Hello there. I find the tortoise a very fasinating animal, I call it the most protected animal in the world simply because when it slides into it's rock hard fortified shell, not even a whirlwind troubles it, in fact, after the storm when others count their loses, it simply slides out again and it's life goes on.
For us humans, we may not be plagued with carrying a heavy shell on our backs, but nonetheless, we have our own shells we slide into, and for two reasons mainly-to meditate and find solutions to life's many troubles or to self destruct.
Remember those days when plans do not go as planned, when your sweetheart suddenly makes your heart sweat, when you are betrayed and your trust flung away with a sling and you just retreat to be alone, no phone calls, no visitations, sometimes no music or movie, that is you inside your own shell. And in situations like these, you are either thinking of dealing with the problem or the problem is already dealing with you.
Now, it is important to ask yourself, when you slide into your shell, what do you see?
Idea barn, where you can pick one idea and work with and find solutions or you see utter darkness and get lost in the moment and thus have nowhere to go or nothing else to do? When the tortoise is in it's shell, it cares less for the whirlwind that is tossing it, it cares less for the problem that drove it into it's shells, all it cares about is life after the danger has passed. Our shell is supposed to be a tunnel of light where our focus is supposed to be only on finding our lost gem. It becomes self destruct when you turn it into an endless pit and you falling in it, you swing up and down but never get to the bottom. There is a choice to make here.
Have you ever taken water, put in a bowl and leave for a while and then return to see particles of dirts in the water even when you are sure when you took the water it was seemingly clean? Yes, the reason the dirts came out was because the water was not troubled, it was calm and in it's STILL state, the dirts gradually separated from the water.
Next time you are in your shell, make up your mind not to be troubled, because then the dirts will remain, but be still and let the dirts gradually take the exit door.
Cheerio.
