A Prisoner Of War is not just one who was a victim of war, but one who also had to bear the bitter experience of incarceration or imprisonment during or even after the war.
At the end of the war, most of these people never remain who they were, life takes up a new meaning to them and various perceptions will be altered, all these as a result of the unfortunate event of being a POW. Some of them carry on with new perceptions that are usually harmful to them and others.
On the brighter side however, some POW positively alter their lives much to their own benefit even after they leave prison. Many learn to read, many pick up new crafts, that go on to become a financial stream for them, many find closer walk with their Creator and at the end of the war, many find peace at last. This group sought to turn an unfortunate event into a platform of blessing.
Life is a tale of constant battles and 'wars', we become victims and some inadvertently become prisoners of the 'wars' they've had to deal with.
These 'wars' may have to do with our personal lives and inability to define what we really need, they may also concern health, family, business, relationship etc.
However, at the end of these 'wars' do we continue to dwell on them thus turning ourselves to prisoners thereof? Or do we see it as unfortunate events that should be platforms for blessings?
It shouldn't be said that you were taken out of 'prison' but prison was not taken out of you.
Time to forgive yourself, find a better meaning to life and move ON.
